The following is a list some of the local towns and
villages.
Tip
The apartment has an entire library of travel book
on the region including numerous Rick Steve's books, Michelin
green guides, Peter Mayle's books (& CD's), brochures, and you
name it. Lugging books over is ill advised.

Gassin: Our favorite hill-top town.
Ramatuelle: Little medieval town with some nice
restaurants. While you are there, make sure to stop at
Cellier de Ramatuelle for some wine tasting
Grimaud Hill-top fortified town. Make sure to hike
up to the castle ruins for the view.
Gigaro: Really a suburb of La Croix Valmer. Great
beach at the end of which starts the Sentier Littoral trail which
hugs the coast. Spectacular view and very good exercise.
Try Pepe The Pirate for lunch or dinner.
Cogolin:
Nice modern Provencal town. Has a tapestry factory with good
buys on curtains and a pipe factory. Great view from the
top of the old part of town.
St. Tropez: Worth visiting. Go very early.
Traffic can be awful. Park at the main public parking area.
Big market on Saturday at Place de Lices.
La Garde Freinet. Quaint little town. La Faucado
restaurant isn't cheap, but great
food and decor. Ask for the cognac bottle with desert.

Bormes Les Mimosas: Beautiful little town. Don't
bother exploring Lavendu.
Grasse: A must see if only for the perfume factory tour.
Fayance: Stop at the square as you start to drive up the
hill towards Mons.
Mons: Midieval town perched at the top of the hills with
spectacular views and cobble stone streets. Eat lunch at
L'Auberge Provencale. Make sure to sit out on the deck if it
is warm enough.

Les Arcs

St. Maximin: Worth getting off the A8 to see the
Basilica of Mary Magdalene.

Ile D'Or (three islands just off the coast which
consist of:) Ile de Porquerolles: take the boat from Toulon/Hyeres
to this island just off the coast. Rent a bike and bike
around the island to beautiful beaches. Port Cros:
similar to Porquerolles, but not quite as nice. Ile de
Levant: haven't been there but its a naturist island.
Supposed to have nice beaches and beautiful views.
